Special Photo Trips with Ethan Gordon
While these trips cater specifically to those interested in photography, non-photographers are welcome and will also enjoy these fabulous itineraries - in fact, non-photographers may even see more than their photographer friends - who all too often have their eyes glued to their viewfinders!
Papua New Guinea, March 29 - April 8 (or 11 with extension), 2011
Vessel: Peter Hughes Star Dancer
Resort: Walindi Plantation
Papua New Guinea (PNG) is renown as one of the world's best diving destinations. This is a claim loosely made by many destinations, but PNG certainly backs it up with some of the best overall coral reefs you can see. From hard to soft corals, health of the coral, and diversity of creatures both big and small living on their reefs, it is hard to top PNG as an overall diving destination.
The waters of Papua New Guinea are home to prolific and diverse marine creatures and corals. Recent marine surveys in Kimbe Bay have recorded over 350 species of reef building corals, and over 900 species of fish. The reefs are a photographer's paradise. Pristine and colorful corals are home to a variety of fish, crustacean and invertebrate life. Many of the reefs have resident schools of barracuda, tuna and jacks. A range of shark species are regularly sighted, including hammerheads and silvertips, particularly at the outer reefs of Fathers and Witu.
Photo Highlights:
PNG is the perfect place to practice all of your photo techniques. With great macro critters, big animals, and wrecks, we can cover everything from close-up to super-wide angle photo techniques.
While aboard, Ethan will give presentations ranging from basic digital photography to advanced lighting techniques. One of the most beneficial services Ethan provides to photographers of all levels is individual critiques. There's no better way to improve your skills than to have a seasoned pro look at your work and provide you with specific suggestions on how to improve.
